Today at The MFG it is 'No Screen Day'. We are encouraging our students and teachers to stay away from screens of any kind. Our teachers have set various challenges throughout the day from orienteering and escape rooms to mindfulness and baking. First to complete a challenge is Curtis in Year 11, with his gourmet version of 'beans on toast'. Year 8 have been whipping up a frenzy in their kitchens at home. Students have been busy baking and creating lots of savoury treats as part of this week's MFG10 challenge: learn a new recipe. Some fantastic efforts from our star bakers! Well done all! We are so proud of Maisie, last year she walked 26 miles over 10 days and raised an incredible amount of money for 'LimbPower', a charity which helps amputees reach their sporting potential. Now she has decided that, in honour of Captain Sir Tom, she will do it all again! Maisie started her new 26 mile challenge today and we hope you will join us in supporting this incredible young lady by donating to her Just Giving page.

It was tough - but the students rose to the challenge! No Screen Day - Jake in Year 7 has produced this wonderful 'Mood Board' for Science and Phoebe in Year 9 has created a musical board game, whilst Ellamae created this sustainable house for Geography. All fantastic creations. Well done everyone. Our students are producing some incredible work today as part of 'No Screen Day'. Our science team challenged the students to draw a map of their house and mark on it places where different elements from the periodic table can be found. Rebecca in Year 7 was quick off the mark with this piece of work. Whilst most students are busy at home with 'No Screen Day' tasks, students in school are enjoying the challenges too. In English, they are working on a pictorial representation of the following quote from Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn "The battle-line between good and evil runs through the heart of every man". To assist with the visualisation of 'good' and 'evil', we have Mr. Whitworth and Mrs Milner - we will leave you to guess which is which!!
